[ARCHIVED] Tips for Driving in the Rain

Storm Closure

Heavy rains are in the forecast for Maricopa County this week as the remnants of Tropical Storm Rosa make their way north. 


The Maricopa County Department of Transportation encourages drivers to follow these safety tips to stay safe on the roads during the storm:

  • Do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways
  • Slow down and add extra distance between your vehicle and the car in front of you
  • If your windshield wipers are on, your headlights should be too
  • Do not use cruise control
  • Don't break of steer abruptly
  • If you start to hydroplane, step off the gas and steer gently in the direction you wish to go
