The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to appoint
Geraldine Peten to fill the Legislative District 4 seat in the Arizona House of
Representatives. The seat was left vacant by the July resignation of Jesus
Rubalcava.
Peten earned her doctor of education degree and two masters
degrees. She has worked as an educational consultant as well as a school
superintendent and administrator.
“The Board was presented with well-qualified candidates. Dr.
Peten’s proven leadership abilities and experience will allow her to represent
the varied needs of the residents in this geographically large legislative
district,” said District 5 Supervisor Steve Gallardo, whose supervisorial
district includes portions of Legislative District 4.
“Her experience will help her get educated about the issues
before the Legislature is back in session. The legislative district spans urban
and rural areas across multiple counties, and she’ll certainly need to think
about the needs of all the residents,” said District 4 Supervisor Clint
Hickman. Supervisorial District 4 also includes part of Legislative District 4.
