Through the Empowered Youth Leaders program, youth will have opportunities to participate in challenging and interesting learning experiences, engage in leadership opportunities, and build on social skills, all while improving the health of their own community.
Youth, ages 14-17, from the Maryvale neighborhood and Sunnyslope neighborhood, will be working in their own communities to develop and implement a project that they will choose to improve the health of their community throughout the 2020-2021 school year.
Once accepted into the program, youth will be required to participate in a 5-day training July 20-July 24, 2020. After the training, youth and the youth leaders will continue to meet throughout the school year to work on their community health project and attend community events as needed. The time and location for meetings during the school year, will be determined based on the group’s availability.
