Small Business Bill of Rights Opens a New Window.
APPROVED FEES- A public hearing was held before the Board of Supervisors (BOS) of Maricopa County, Arizona, on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at 9:30 a.m. in the BOS Auditorium, 205 West Jefferson, Phoenix, Arizona, 85003 to consider the adoption of proposed Maricopa County Enhanced Regulatory Outreach Program (EROP) Case ES-2019-001/Maricopa County Transfer Station Fee Revisions. Transfer station fees have been added now into the Maricopa County Environmental Health Code Fee Schedule.
Transfer station operational expenses have increased as a result of additional citizen demand, which in turn has caused a revenue deficit for Maricopa County Waste Resources and Recycling (MCWRR). To maintain compliance with A.R.S § 49-741, which requires providing or ensuring solid waste public facility services are available for citizens, MCWRR fee changes were proposed.
Following BOS approval, listed fees are implemented over a two year period; year one fees became effective on July 31, 2019 and year two will become effective on July 31, 2020. Residential trash drop-offs involving passenger cars/station wagons have increase from $4/load to $5/load in year one and will increase from $5/load to $6/load in year two. Vans/sport utility vehicles have change from $6/load to $7/load for year one and will change from $7/load to $9/load for year two. Pickup trucks and trailers from $8/load to $11/load for year one and from $11/load to $12/load for year two. This proposal also adds a fee for bagged trash are at $2/bag in year one with no increase in year two. In addition, cathode-ray tube item drop-off fees have increase from $5 to $13 each in year one and will increase from $13 to $21 each in year two. The approved transfer station fees are posted at the following link; https://www.maricopa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/46036/ES-2019-001-BOH-Meeting-Notice in the Maricopa County Board of Health Staff Report dated April 22, 2019.
