Internal Audit annually assesses and reports on Maricopa County's financial condition in a highly visual, user-friendly, annual Financial Condition Report. This report displays key financial 10-year trends and compares Maricopa's trends to 10 western U.S. counties' trend averages.
The Fiscal Year 2018 Citizens Financial Condition Report utilizes financial ratios, trend analysis, graphical depictions, and benchmark county comparisons to evaluate Maricopa County’s current financial condition. Maricopa County, the Nation's 4th most populous county, has continued to show financial strength in Fiscal Year 2018, as evidenced by its low long-term liabilities, especially when compared to benchmark counties, increasing property values and tax revenues, and ability to provide a wide variety of services to its residents and visitors for considerably less than benchmark counties.

The Citizens Financial Condition Report uses financial ratios, trend analysis, benchmark county comparisons, and graphical displays to evaluate Maricopa County's financial condition. The County continued to show financial strength in Fiscal Year 2017. The County's fiscally conservative management philosophy has resulted in the County's long-term liabilities remaining low and favorable compared to benchmark counties; General Fund balance and liquidity continued to improve.
