Correctional Health Services

To prevent or mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19 in any of the Maricopa County Sheriff Office (MCSO) jails, proactively, Maricopa County Correctional Health Services (CHS) is following the precautions recommended by the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. These precautions include but are not limited to:
  • Inmates/Patients undergo additional screening at the time of intake or self-surrender to determine the presence of fever, respiratory infection, recent travel, or contact with persons who are known to be infected with COVID-19;
  • Inmates/Patients who have a positive screening test for COVID-19 risk are rapidly triaged and placed in isolation;
  • Symptomatic Inmates/Patients who have had contact with a person who is infected with COVID-19 (based on a lab test) or who have traveled to an affected geographic area will be tested for COVID-19 in collaboration with Maricopa County Public Health;
  • Persons already in MCSO custody who present with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 will be tested following Maricopa County Public Health guidelines.
CHS remains vigilant in its efforts to use all resources at its disposal to maintain the safety and security of our patients, staff, and the public at large.
