    Mental Health

A child's mental health is crucial to his or her overall well-being. In Head Start and Early Head Start, learning is structured to promote opportunities for success. Success has proven to create positive self-esteem in children. This is something that Head Start staff fosters through their nurturing and supportive interactions.

Head Start teachers screen all enrolled children for mental health concerns, the program will arrange for children with mental health issues to receive appropriate help. In addition, the program's special needs coordinators are available to assist teachers in accommodating and supporting children with mental health issues.
