    Disability

Head Start and Early Head Start allocates ten percent of their enrollment to children with disabilities. The program accommodates children with a wide range of disabilities, and has several placement options. Services may be provided directly by the Head Start or Early Head Start program, by the local education agency, or through dual enrollment in both the local education agency and the Head Start/Early Head Start program.

Head Start/Early Head Start teachers coordinate with the program's special needs professionals to individualize the curriculum to help children with disabilities meet the goals outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEP), and to ensure full inclusion of all children in program activities.

If your child has an IEP, please bring it to your initial application appointment. For more information about disability services or your child's possible placement, please contact Head Start's administrative offices at (602) 506-5911.
