How can the Community become Involved with Head Start

Head Start relies on community resources to provide many of its services. Individuals, businesses and organizations can become involved in Head Start in several ways:

    Become a community partner
Community partners are a key factor in the success of any Head Start or Early Head Start program. Community partnerships are mutually beneficial agreements between two agencies, with each agency providing a service to the other, and in turn gaining a resource needed to ensure its own success.

Head Start and Early Head Start partners include school districts, non-profit agencies, private day care providers, churches, health care providers, dental care providers, community colleges, government agencies, Boys and Girls Clubs and a variety of other groups.

Head Start's most pressing partnership needs are space for Head Start classrooms, transportation and medical and dental services for families and children.

If you would like to discuss the benefits of becoming a community partner, please contact our Family Partnerships Coordinator at (602) 506-8879.

    Become a volunteer
Head Start and Early Head Start rely on volunteers to provide a variety of services. Volunteers may be able to spend time playing with children, reading books, leading classroom activities, or may assist with other activities based on their own skills and interests. Volunteer opportunities are unlimited in Head Start, such as providing clerical support, technology skills, or maintaining a classroom or playground, etc.

Volunteers are needed in all areas of Maricopa County . We can find a volunteer placement in the location and timeframe that is convenient for you.

To discuss the possibility of becoming a Head Start volunteer, please contact the Head Start administrative office nearest you.
In Mesa , please call us at (480) 464-9669
In Peoria , please call us at (623) 486-9868

    Become an intern

Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at (480) 464-9669 x295 to inquire about designing an internship program for your area of interest.
