Stop Using Tobacco

Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable illness and death in the United States. It causes many different cancers as well as chronic lung diseases such as emphysema and bronchitis, heart disease, pregnancy-related problems, and many other serious health problems.

Maricopa County employees who are enrolled in a County-sponsored medical plan have two Tobacco Cessation Programs to help them become tobacco-free.

On-Site Quit Tobacco Program

Available to all Maricopa County employees, this six-week, on-site program will give you the support you need to quit tobacco or e-cigarettes for good. The 30-minute sessions are held once a week at convenient County work-site locations and are facilitated by a tobacco cessation expert from the Maricopa County Department of Public Health.

You'll start by learning your options for quitting. Next, you'll identify your personal triggers and behaviors that contribute to smoking and be empowered to overcome them before your quit date. As you quit, you'll learn how to defeat cravings, manage stress, and understand the quitting process. Throughout the class, you'll have support and accountability from colleagues who are also quitting tobacco.
